Two Months

Two posts in one week. I'm an a roll!
My little pumpkin is two months old already! Time is flying by. We went to the doctor yesterday for her two month appointment. She weighed in at 12 lbs 1 oz ( 75 percentile). She is 23 3/4 inches long. ( 90 percentile) And her head is 15 3/4 inches. ( 75 percentile.) So she is nice and long!

At two months, she smiles all the time and she is starting to coo. She is a strong baby. (The three nurses it took to hold her down on Monday when they were taking her blood agree with me!)

Health-wise....Mylin is doing great! We went to her specialist in LA on Monday and Mylin is great! It turns out the problem is with me and not Mylin, so that is good news! Her carnatine was low because mine was low and she was getting her nutrients from me. They took more blood and are running more tests to make sure she is still doing ok, so we'll know in a few weeks. (I wish life was like Grey's Anatomy where you go to the hospital and they run tests and you get the result in like 3 minutes. Not real life. Results take weeks!) So for right now she does not have to take the medicine because they started me on the medicine and she can still get it from me. So thanks for all the prayers on her behalf!

As for me, I'm now taking medicine three times a day. It's not too bad, except for the fact that it tastes like Power-Bait. But worse. It's nasty. Ugh..Anyways..So there are pretty much 2 reasons why my carnatine is low. One would be if I'm a carrier of the Carnatine Transmitor Disorder or the other reason would be that low carnatine is a symptom of some other metabolic disease. They ran tests to check my levels of carnatine to see if I'm responding to the medicine. They ran a DNA test to see if I'm a carrier and then more tests to check for other diseases. Low carnatine in adults lead to, among other things, fatigue and heart problems so I also had an EKG done and am having a heart-echo (?) done next week. Anyways..Lots of info...Now just waiting.

But in the meantime, here are some cute pictures of my cute little baby!

I love those lips! She does that pucker all the time!

Even though she is getting so big, she is still so tiny!

Hollywood

Last weekend we decided to go to Hollywood and be tourists. We did one of those tour-bus things where they take you around and show you Movie Star homes and famous places!

We saw homes of Simon Cowell, Dr.Phil, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and then we saw a bunch of the front gates of many more stars! (The brochure was misleading! "See the Playboy Mansion", it said. In reality, we just saw the front gate.)

Tim & Mylin waiting for the tour to start.
We did see the home where Michael Jackson died. There was still candle wax from all the candles that people lit after he died.
Then we walked along the Walk of Fame and saw the Chinese Grauman Theater, the Kodak Theater and lots of other places.
The weekend before last, we went with some friends to the annual Strawberry Festival in Oxnard.

There were strawberry foods galore! Strawberry shortcake, strawberry pie, strawberry funnel cake, strawberry salsa, strawberry popcorn, strawberry beer, and strawberry pizza to name a few!
Mylin had a blast!

Along with the foods, there were lots of booths. We bought Mylin a fancy dress from a little old lady who made them. Tim and I loved this dress.

So did Mylin.

Blessing

This past weekend we drove to Round Valley to bless Mylin. (The drive sucks. Bad. I mean...it's AWESOME! Everyone come and visit!)
We had a great time. Almost everyone in our immediate families were able to come.
This is Mylin in her beautiful dress. I loved it!

Our little family. Yes, my hair is way different from the last post. Shout out to my sis-in-law Kalli for doing an awesome job!

Here are all the cousins on Tim's side. All 13!

Here is my family with the exception of Matt and Spencer. Matt had a track-meet. He's the coach. And Spencer is in Mexico on his mission. So I pretty much planned Mylin's blessing around Mother's Day just so we could all be there to talk to Spenc. Turns out he wasn't able to talk to us until 7 pm and everyone had to leave by then. So we all just had a time that we were going to call him. I had the worst time. I tried 4 different calling cards and then tried calling on my cell (even though it was like 4$ a minute) and I STILL couldn't reach him. This went on for two hours and it never worked. Everyone had a hard time getting through to him, but I was the only one not able to talk to him. I was more than bummed. I cried forever! Nothing like waiting months to talk for 10 minutes to your brother and then not being able to. He emailed me the next day and said he waited up until 2 in the morning for me to call. He fell asleep with the phone in his hand and woke up with it still there. Ya. I'm still mad about it. Anyways...
The rest of the pics are just some I took while we were in Arizona.
Nate, always pleased to have his picture taken.

I love this one of her. She's such a cutie!

This is Mylin with her cousin Jordin. (Amanda's little girl.) Jordin is just a few months older than Mylin.

Gav and Mylin. When we were taking these pictures, he kept putting his arm around her back or he would pat her on her head!

Finally!

It has taken me a while to get settled here in California, but here I am. Finally doing a post.

We haven't really done much since we have gotten here. We've gone to the beach a few times. Just to walk around. It's still to cold to actually get in the water.

Mylin turned one month. It is crazy how fast time goes by after the baby was born compared to how slow it went before she was born!

For those of you who don't know, Mylin has a carnatine deficiency. She tested positive for it on both of her newborn screening tests and some other blood work confirmed it. It's very rare, especially in newborns. In fact, both pediatricians (one in AZ and the one in CA) have never had any baby test positive for it in all their years of being a doctor. About 1 in every 40,000 children have this. Carnatine is what makes energy from the fats in your body and fats from the food you eat. It is something that she will most likely have to deal with her whole life. Things have been crazy getting her taken care of with this. She had to get on medicine immediately. (With some frantic calls from her doctor saying if she didn't get on this medicine within 24 hours she could crash. If that doesn't freak a new mom out, I don't know what will!) Mylin has to have a metabolical doctor, which is at UCLA. Apparently they have a fantastic medical center there. We have been there and are still waiting for more tests to come back.

I'm not explaining this very well, but I'm trying to figure a way to link the information the doctor gave me so that you all can read it and understand what is going on. (Ok...I'm not trying to figure out how to do it. My sister is. She rocks. And she's better at things like that then I am!)

So how does this affect Mylin? She takes medicine daily. Long story short, if she takes her medicine she should be fine. If she doesn't take her medicine, it can be life-threatening. So let me tell you...I am a crazy person about making sure she gets her medicine.

Also, because of this deficiency, Mylin needs to and wants to eat more than a normal baby. Because her body isn't making enough energy from fats for her body, she has to get more energy from sugars and proteins, thus she needs to eat more. She cannot go longer than 3-4 hours without food. So during the day and night I have to set alarms for every 3.5 hours to feed her. Sometimes she eats sooner than that. Because of this...she is getting really big!

But I'll keep you updated on our little girl and I'll try to get that information up so you can understand what I'm talking about!

So some things about Mylin:

She is the cutest thing in the world!

She smiles a lot and has the most adorable dimple.

She's a pretty happy baby most of the time. (Except I think she is a little colicky.)

She loves to snuggle.
She's a music snob. Hates Rihanna and Jason Derulo. Cries every time she hears their music! But she will stop crying for David Archuleta, Jonas brothers, and Justin Bieber. She's already a teeny-bopper! Ha! (And I swear I don't listen to all these teen-girl groups!. Just sometimes I do.)

She likes her swing.

She is pretty much the best thing that has happened to me.

Happy Birthday!

I am behind on my posts, but I just wanted to wish my dad a late happy birthday!

He's pretty much the greatest.
